High Velocity Water Spray System (HVWSS)

• Mainly used to extinguish fires involving oils or similar to combustible liquids. Oil-filled electrical equipment such as transfomers, or lubrication systems on steam driven turbines are generally protected.

Extingusihment of fires by HVs is achieved by a combination of the following:

• Cooling of the burning oil surface reduces the vaporization rate.
• Steam generated in the fire zone causes a smothering effect through oxygen displacement.
• Diltion of the burning product. A water miscible product e.g alcohol, can be diluted to a level where it will no longer burm.
• Emulsification through the bombardment of the surface of the product by the high velocity water droplets. The emulsion formed consists either of globules of oil suspended in water or globules of water supended in oil. The effect is temporary and the mixture will separate again in time.

Medium Velocity Water Spray System (MVWSS)

• Mv systems are mainly used to protect structures, plant and storage vessels from radiated heat and direct flame impingement

Typical applications include:

• External surface protection of bulk liquefied gas pressure vessels to prevent container failure and the resultant boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion
• Bulk flammable liquid storage tanks
• Structures supporting hazardous plant and equipment such as converyors.
• Cable Galleries

• In addition, fire prevention may be achieved particularly where flammable gas leaks are likely to occur. The action of the spray on the leak will help to dissipate the gas more quickly and prevent concentrations from reaxhing their flammable

Foam Fire Protection System

Comprised of three parts:
• Foam Concentrate
• Water
• Air

When mixed correctly, these parts from a homogeneous foam blanket that extinguishes flames by the combined mechanisms of cooling separating the flame source from the product surface, suppressing vapour and smothering.

* Typical areas of the protection
• Aircraft hangars
• Petrochemical
• Oiland Gas
• Flammable liquid storage
• Tank Farms

Fire Alarm System

• It is a set of electronic equipment working together to detect to detect and alert people through visual and audio appliances when smoke/fire is present.
• A alarm may be activated from smoke detectors, heat detectors, water flow sensors, which are automatic or from a manual fire alarm pull station.
• It is used to notify people to evacuate in the event of a fire or other emergency.

Fire Alarm Systems are classified as under:

• Conventional System
• Analogue Addressable System

Components for the system:

• Fire Alarm Panel
• Smoke/Heat/Multi Sensor/Optical/Photoelectric/Rate of Rise Detectors
• Manual Call Points
• Hooters
• Modules
• Batteries
• Wires

Conventional Fire Alarm System

• The detector communicates with the fire alarm control panel simply by changing state from high impedance to low impedance when smoke is detected.
• 32 detectors on each zone can be installed.
• Panel has number of zones which can be arranged to correspond to different areas of a building.
• In the event of a fire, the panel is able to identify which zone contains the detector.
• Secondary (backup) Power supply is provided to the panel in case of power failure.
• Initiating Devices: These components acts as an input to the fire alarm control unit and is either manually or automatically actuated.

Addressable Fire Alarm System

• Easch detector on a system an individual number, or address.
• It allows the panel to know the exact location of an alarm with its addressing feature.
• Panels can also be interContacted to control a very large number of detectors in many other building.
• Commonly used in hospitals, universities, resorts and similar large centers.
• It allows single pair of wire to Contact a large number of devices which reduces cabling cost.
• Secondary (backup) Power supply is provided to the panel in case of power failure.
• Initiating Devices: These components acts as an input to the fire alarm control unit and is either manually or automatically actuated.

CCTV System

• It is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors.
• It is surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as banks, casinos, airports, military installations, industrial plants and convenience stores.
• CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event.
• Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), provides recording with a variety of quality and performance options.
• Motion Detection and email alerts are some of the features of the DVR.

Components for the system:

• Digital Video Recorder
• Camera
• Power Supply
• Contactors • Hard Drive • Wires

Gas Flooding system

• Inert gases and chemical agents to extingusig a fire.
• System works on a total flooding principle.
• Applocation of the extinguishing agent to a three dimensional enclosed space in order to achieve a concentration of the agent
• Operated automatically by detection and related controls or manually by the operation of a system actuator.

Components for the system:

• Extinguishing Agent
• solation Valve

• Art / artifacts / historical collections

Wet Riser System

• It is a main vertical pipe intended to distribute water to multiple levels of a building or structure.
• The pipe is full of pressurized water for manual or automatic fire fighting operation.
• Wet risers in occupied buildings have to be within a fire resistant shaft.

Intrusion Alarm System

• Intrusions are the activities that violate the security policy of system.
• Intrusions Detection is the process used to identify intrusions.
• Intrusions may be from outside the network or legitimate users of the network.
• Intrusion can be a physical, system or remote intrusion.
• It looks for attack which are specific patterns that usually indicate malicious or suspicious intent.

System Components:

• Panel
• Intrusion Detection Devices
• Batteries
• Alerting Devices

Fire Extinguisher System

• It is an active fire protection device used to extinguish or control small fires in emergency situations.
• A fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent which can be discharged to extinguish a fire.

There are two main types of fire extinguishers:

• stored pressure
• cartridge-operated

• In stored pressure unit, the expellant is stored in the same chamber as the firefighting agent itself.
• In stored pressure fire extinguishers a cartridge- operated extinguishers containing the expellant gas in a separate cartridge that is punctured prior to discharge, exposing the propellant to the extinguishing agent.
• Fire extinguishers are further divided into handheld and cart-mounted.

Signage System

• It refers to the designs and symbols to communicate a message to a specific group.
• Signs vary in form and size based on location and intent.
• Signs may also use digital or electronic displays.
• The main purpose of signs is to communicate & to convey information

In general, signs may be classified according to the following functions:

• Information: signs conveying information
• Direction: signs such as sign posts or directional arrows.
• Identification: signs such as room names and numbers, restroom signs, or designations.
• Safety and Regulatory: signs, or signs conveying rules and regulations.

Evacuation Plans

• It is the immediate and urgent movement of people away from the threat or actual occurrence of a hazard.
• It may happen from a small scale evacuation of a building due to fire
